The Karl L. King Municipal Band of Fort Dodge accepted an invitation to appear at the 20th annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival in Boone on Saturday, July 9.  This festival was held at Herman Park in the southwest part of the city.  The King Band played several compositions by Karl L. King, including the marches Iowa Centennial and Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite, the aerial waltz Mystic Night, a trombone novelty Mournful Maggie, and The Big Cage galop.  The Light Cavalry Overture, Frank Piersol’s Maxi-March, and highlights from the Broadway musical The Music Man were also on the program.  Jive For Five performed Glenn Miller Medley, accompanied by the King Band and then also performed a short program at 5:45 before the Boone band's program.
