The Karl L. King Memorial Foundation Scholarships
There are three scholarships awarded from the foundation.   Two scholarships are worth $500 each for two students that attend Iowa Central Community College and participate in instrumental music as their major.   One scholarship for $1,000 is awarded to a student that attends or will attend a 4-year Iowa college or university of their choice and pursues instrumental music as their major.
The Karl L. King Memorial Foundation Scholarships have been generously supported from several sources.

Providing the funds for these awards are the King Band Scholarship fund, along with Peggy and the late Tom Dowd, and R. Greg and Joan Olson in memory of his parents and his wife's parents.
Also, the Fort Dodge High School Jazz Lab, formerly directed by John Groethe from 1970-1976, made a generous donation to the fund as the result of 2 Jazz Lab Band reunions they have had in recent years.
