Karl King Bandshell Renovation - Page 1

The Oleson Park Music Pavilion/Karl King Band Shell, a "National Treasure," is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its Streamline Moderne Architecture and close association with Architect Henry Kamphoefner and Bandmaster Karl King.

Construction of the Karl King Band Shell Project is being supported in part by a Save America's Treasures Grant administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior and in part by a State of Iowa Historic Site Preservation Grant and a Resource Enhancement and Protection Historical Resource Development Program Grant.

Contributions of the State Historical Society of Iowa and the Fort Dodge Historic Preservation Commision have made this project possible.

Photos on this page show the condition when restoration process had just begun in 2004.
